Does Father Christmas of Lapland really receive letters?
02.06.2025
Ohohoho! Hello, my dear friends! My name is Father Christmas and today I want to dispel your doubts about the letters I receive. I know that you sometimes wonder how it is possible that I read so much correspondence and that I remember the content of each letter. I will therefore let you in on the secret. I invite you to read!
Who writes letters to Father Christmas?
Every year, millions of children (and not just children!) from all over the world, write me letters. Sometimes it's correspondence on beautiful, decorative paper, sometimes it's colourful drawings and sometimes it's e-mails - yes, yes, even Father Christmas has his own electronic box these days. I assure you that I enjoy reading all the letters and every, absolutely every word is very important to me.
Does anyone help Santa read the letters?
I'm sure you're curious as to how I'm embracing all this. Well... I am not alone! In my village in Lapland, there is a wonderful team of elves - tireless helpers who day and night sort and catalogue letters written in all the languages of the world. I must tell you that the elves have a knack for learning languages. This makes it easy for them to translate all the letters, which significantly speeds up the process of familiarising themselves with the content of the correspondence.
We have developed an efficient system for collecting letters, delivering them to my office, sorting out the content that has been read and that which is waiting to be read. The elves very quickly direct the information on gifts to the toy factory, and then, to the archive.
How is it possible for Santa to keep up with reading so many letters?
I have to boast to you that a couple of years ago I completed a speed-reading course with honours - because how can you keep up when the mailboxes are literally bursting at the seams! As a result, today I can read up to 500 letters an hour (aided, of course, by magical hot chocolate).
What happens to letters after reading?
And what happens to letters after they've been read? Don't worry, they don't end up in the bin! In my studio, we have a special archive, huge like a library - that's where all the letters are kept. It is a place full of memories, childhood dreams and touching stories. Sometimes, when I have a free moment (for example, in July), I sit down with a cup of cocoa and read the letters from years ago. They are beautiful moments that remind me why I do what I do.
So, my dear friends, write away! Your letters really reach me, they are read with care and attention, and every wish I fulfil starts with just such a letter.
With a warm greeting and a bit of snow in your beard,
Your Father Christmas from Lapland
